Freddie Mercury was one of the best singer and songwriter during the 70’s and 80’s. He was born on 5th September 1946. He is known for his powerful voice and strong stage personality. HE is a British singer, producer and songwriter. His real name was Farrokh Buisara. He is best remembered as a lead vocalist for the band named Queen. He was also the songwriter for this band. He has composed several hit songs like Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now, Somebody to Love, We are the champions etc. Freddie Mercury is considered as the greatest singer in the history of music according to a poll. He possessed a vocal range of about 4 octaves.
Freddie Mercury was a talented guy. He has written and composed songs of various genres of music like rock, gospel, disco etc. He was experimental and liked to do new things. He was the most engaging and versatile performer onstage. In the year 1973 Mercury’s band Queen released their first album. Unfortunately the first and the second record di not hit with the audience and did not gain any success. The their record named Sheer Heart Attack which was released in the year 1975featured a song named Killer Queen which was a big hit and also attained a ranking of 2 on the UK and 12th on the US charts. In 1976 the Queen band came up with another album named “A night at the Opera”. This was even a bigger hot and attained the top position at the Britain charts and also was in the top ten hit list in the US charts. HE has written about 10 to 17 songs that were great hits for his band.
Although Mercury was an excellent song writer and singer he was also an amazing showman. HE knew teh skills to entertain his audience. Fun loving, artistic, talented, entertaining, energetic are just few words to describe Mercury. He was always lively onstage and involved his audience in the fun around the stage. In the year 1978 “We are the Champions” and “We will Rock You” from the album News of the World became the world’s anthem and were played during sports tournaments. Alter in the 1980’s Mercury experimented with Disco music. Mercury’s personal history and childhood is a good inspiration for many.
In the year 1987 Mercury was diagnosed with HIV. On 24th November 1991 Mercury took his last breath but he will always remain a personality to be remembered in the minds and hearts of many.
